Top Up training / “Top Up Door Supervisor Refresher” Upskilling Course. from 1 October 2021, the is changing the way that Security Guards (SG 1 Day Course) and Door Supervisors (DS 2 Day Course) licenses are renewed. From this date, to renew your licence you must complete Top-Up Training.
What is Top-Up Training?
Top-up training is a compulsory 2-day up-skilling training to renew your license. is changing the way that Security Guard (1 Day Course) and Door Supervisor (2 Day Course) Licenses are renewed from the 1st of October. This new Top Up Training will up-skill door supervisors to the level attained by those who took a course and qualification after 1st April 2021.
Why do I need the Top Up Training Course London for a Door Supervisor Licence?
Completing the Top Up Door Supervisor training to renew your license will be compulsory. On 1 April 2021, the introduced new critical safety elements to their licence holder qualifications.
Top Up Door Supervisor Training is To ensure that current Door Supervisors and Security Guard license holders have the same level of qualification as those who are newly qualified. The has developed top-up training. Top-up Door Supervisor training will align the skills of those renewing licences with new license holders since 1 April 2021, when the standards changed.
Do I need Top-up training upskilling course for a Security Guard license as well?
Yes, you will need an Top Up Training if you currently hold a Security Guard license. You will need to attend top-up training. From 1 October 2021, you must have one of the following before you can apply for, or renew your license:
- One of the new Qualifications was set in place in April 2021.
- Or, one of the older licence-linked qualifications, a valid First-Aid certificate, and a Top-Up qualification.
Top-Up Training for Security Guard Licence (1 day)
The Top-Up Training and Emergency First Aid course is also required for Security Guards to renew their License, it is a one-day course and it is for anyone who is currently working as a Security Officer and needs to renew their licence.
What will the top-up training course include?
Door Supervisor License holders must attend a 2-day Upskilling Training as well as an Emergency First Aid Course. Security Guard licence holders must attend a 1-day of top-up training and also an Emergency First Aid Course.
Upskilling Top Up training will include Terror Threat Awareness and Minimizing Personal Risk for Security Officers. Furthermore, changes require license holders to have an Emergency First Aid Certificate. Before renewing your license, you must either prove you have a minimum of 12 months before expiry on any current first aid certificate or you must attend an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification or equivalent, before attending any top-up training.
TOP-UP DOOR SUPERVISION COURSE CONSISTS OF THE FOLLOWING UNITS:
- Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry.
- Principles of Using Equipment as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry.
- Application of physical intervention skills in the private security industry.
- Understand counter-terrorism issues relevant to a door supervisor.
- Know the role of a door supervisor when first aid situations occur in licensed premises.
- Know how to use communication equipment relevant to a door supervisor.
- Physical Intervention concept theory how to keep venues and people safe.
- Physical Intervention practical skills are relevant to a door supervisor.
Assessment:
Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry – assessed by a practical test and a written multiple-choice examination.
Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry:
- 10 Questions, 20-minute exam paper. The pass mark required is 70%.
Using Equipment as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry:
- 5 Questions, 10-minute exam paper. The pass mark required is 70%.
Application of Physical Intervention Skills in the Private Security Industry:
- 30 Questions, 45 mins exam paper. The pass mark is 80%.
